There's more to the Ames Laboratory logo than an inverted "V" over a gray ball. The Ames Laboratory logo includes the stylized letter "A" that depicts a set of calipers and a molecule of material and representing the Laboratory's traditional strength in materials science. But the logo also includes the words "Ames Laboratory" and there are guidelines for the type face used, the positioning of the words to the stylized "A," the proportions of these two elements and the color scheme used.
