Unusually Fast Mobility of Ag and Nanopatterning

Ag deposited on Si(111)-Ag(√3x√3) at 300 K shows unusually fast mobility. Islands nucleate only on step bunches after traversing 2μm long terraces . When mixed substrates are used with both 7x7 and Ag(√3x√3) present the high mobility can be used for nanopatterning with the nucleated islands exclusively on top of the 7x7 regions.
