The Ames Laboratory operates a complete machine shop service.   Our shop inventory consists of modern equipment needed to fabricate most any conceivable device required for research projects.  If you have a need or any questions about the fabrication of items to support your mission in research give us a call at (515) 294-5428.  We will be honest in our effort to assist you in your fabrication needs.  We would like to give you or your research group a tour of our facilities.  We are located in 160 and 167 Metals Development.

You will find that submitting work to the shop is a very easy process.  We encourage our customers to visit the shop during the fabrication process of their projects.  This is very helpful to both you as the customer and the shop itself.   We have found over the years that this type of open communication is a way of sharing information.  You, as our customer, will have a better understanding of our capabilities and we, as shop personnel, benefit from your scientific expertise.
