b.  Other.  Dr. Clark obtained funding in 2000 from the Atherton Seidell Grant Program of the Smithsonian Institution, with Pedro Acevedo as project director, for purchase and distribution of approximately 200 copies of the book American Bamboos to herbaria, libraries, and other institutions throughout Latin America. She worked on the development of “The Grasses of Iowa: A Web-based Resource”, an updated treatment of Iowa grasses including specimen and character databases that will take the form of an image-rich, interactive Web resource, funded by the Fred Maytag Family Foundation, 2002-2004. She was a co-organizer, with E. A. Kellogg and J. I. Davis, of the Grass Phylogeny Working Group (1996-2001), to combine a series of existing data sets to produce a comprehensive phylogeny for the grass family, focus taxon sampling in the family, and reevaluate the subfamilial classification of the Poaceae based on the phylogeny; obtained NSF grant DEB-9806584 to support travel for a majority of the GPWG to attend the 3rd International Symposium on Grass Systematics and Evolution in Sydney, September 1998.
