(iv) Synergistic activities

a.   Directly in Forensics.  Dr. McClelland currently directs research funded by the National Institude of Justice to investigate "Direct In-Situ Identification of Inks to Expedite Forensic Analysis."

b.  Other  Dr. McClelland is the founder of the International Conference on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena. See http://www.chem.t.u-tokyo.ac.jp/labs/sawada/icppp/ for the most recent conference. He is a proposal reviewer for DOE, EPA, NSF, Research Corporation, and Petroleum Research Fund. Journal referee for Applied Optics, Applied Spectroscopy, Optics Letters, Applied Physics Letters, Analytical Chemistry, Review of Scientific Instruments, and Journal of Applied Physics and has hosted visits by elementary school students to laboratory and planned hands-on student demonstrations in applied spectroscopy. He founded MTEC Photoacoustics, Inc., to make photoacoustic instrumentation available to academic, government, and industrial researchers in the U.S. and 35 foreign countries. He has also organized photoacoustic spectroscopy symposia at FACSS for the last five years.
