Overview

The research projects underway at ISU that are relevant to forensic science can be grouped into six categories:

• Development and implementation of new techniques for analysis of physical evidence and for defense.
• Development of databases for establishing the origin of physical evidence.
• Development of new statistical methods for, and statistical analysis of, the reliability of evidence identification.
• Development of genetic techniques and databases for population analysis.
• Development of new techniques for computer security: the next generation of cyber forensic tools.
• Analysis of the reliability of eyewitness evidence.

A number of Centers and Programs on campus exist that strengthen ISU as an environment for forensic research. These are:
