A prerequisite to using SSH for remote e-mail is a functional SSH v2 client. Follow the instructions here to obtain and configure an ssh client.
Once an ssh client is available, ssh to ssh.ameslab.gov. A menu similar to the following will appear:
External Services Menu Choose a service: 1. Access to AmesLab email using Pine 2. Connect to an internal AmesLab host using SSH 3. Connect to an internal AmesLab host using Telnet 4. Logout of External Services and disconnect Choice? |
Choose "Access to AmesLab email using Pine" (by typing "1") to login to Pine. Instructions on using Pine are outside the scope of this page, but the onscreen guide is very helpful and the Pine website is a good source for instructional information.
