An annual publication highlighting research conducted by Ames Laboratory scientists

2000 issue (On the cover) Andreja Bakac injects a sample of
saturated hydrocarbons she wants to oxidize into an aqueous solution
of uranyl ions. The uranyl absorbs light that provides the energy to
drive the oxidation experiment, making the otherwise lifeless
hydrocarbons more reactive. (See the article Illuminations, for more information.)
