1998 issue (On the cover) In an Ames Lab award-winning technology, the beam from a dye laser excites the frozen analytes in this small and uniquely designed capillary cryostat, causing them to fluoresce. The line-narrowed spectra they emit may help researchers learn more about how cancer develops.
